In this case, designs have become important in terms of the necessity of useful trash cans in outdoor areas and their positioning in accordance with pedestrian circulation.

Trash cans should be in harmony with other urban furniture. They should be designed in a high and appropriate size that people of all ages can use easily. They should not be perceived as a separate element in the space where they are used. On the contrary, they are seen as an element of the urban environment in the space they use.

Trash cans should not have very complex structures due to their constructional structure. It should be simple, robust, easy to maintain and use. People from all walks of life and all ages can be found in public spaces. In these human populations, proper use of litter boxes should be considered and implemented. They must be durable and fireproof. The materials to be used in its construction must be highly resistant to outdoor conditions. İIt must be emptied as a result of garbage accumulation. Garbage bins should be designed to prevent litter from flying in the open air or animals and birds from approaching and harming the litter, and should be well-imposed in the area where it will be used.

If we look at the types of trash cans;

1-) Floor-mounted bins: These types of bins are connected to the floor by means of flanges or anchors. This type of garbage cans are fixed in place.

2-) Pole attached bins: They are fixed and the locations of these bins do not change.

3-) Wall-mounted trash cans: These are the trash cans that are not preferred because of space constraints or design requirements.

In addition, large-volume garbage cans are used to collect garbage that will be separated according to their characteristics. For example, it is the type of bin where glass, plastic, paper, metal and organic wastes are placed in separate sections.
